The Faculty of Pontifical and Civil Theology of Lima finds its origin in the General Study of the Order of Preachers instituted on July 1, 1548 in the Rosario Convent in the city of Lima. By Royal Decree of May 12, 1551, the Royal University of the City of Kings was created, the General Study of the Order of Preachers became the first Faculty of said university. We are a university community that is dedicated to research, teaching and professional training at the service of Peruvian society, inspired by a Catholic ideology, and therefore humanist. We rigorously seek the interdisciplinarity of the various types of knowledge which, while maintaining their legitimate autonomy, are harmonized by the integrating knowledge of Theology.
