On June 25, 1981, the Council of Ministers of the USSR adopted Decree No. 585 “On the organization of an agro-reclamation institute in Nalchik” on the basis of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization By order of the Ministry of Agriculture of the USSR No. 222 of 15.07.1981. The Kabardino-Balkarian Agroreclamation Institute is entrusted with the training of specialists in full-time and part-time forms in 6 specialties: agronomy, agricultural mechanization, hydromelioration, mechanization of hydroreclamation works, zootechnics, veterinary medicine. The university began its first academic year 1981-1982 as part of 3 faculties: agronomic, veterinary, agricultural mechanization and 14 departments, which employed 108 teachers, including 4 doctors of science, professors: K.N. Kerefov, Z-G.Kh. Shautsukov, P.G. Luchkov, B.Kh. Fiapshev and two consulting professors: B.G. Zhamoido, O.E. Pakhomenko. Their experience and knowledge were very useful to the university in the first years of the educational institution. During the formation of the university, the emergence and formation of scientific schools in the field of melioration, crop production, environmentally friendly resource and energy-saving technologies for cultivating basic crops in the conditions of the KBR, mechanization and automation of agriculture, landscape-adaptive gardening of the KBR, improvement of breeding, productive and technological qualities planned breeds of farm animals, diagnostics, treatment and prevention of diseases of animals and birds, etc
