The Brandenburg Technical University of Cottbus-Senftenberg ( BTU ) is a technical university that was newly founded in 2013. The BTU is the second largest university in Brandenburg after the University of Potsdam . University campuses are located in the cities of Cottbus and Senftenberg in the south of the state of Brandenburg, between Berlin and Dresden. The central campus in Cottbus is not far from the old town center. Another, significantly smaller campus in Cottbus is located in the southern district of Sachsendorf . There are 40 kilometers between the central campus in Cottbus and the campus in Senftenberg.
