1New Road Constabulary Compound, Mackenzie, Linden, Guyana
What is now called the Linden Technical Institute was first established to provide training for the apprentices of the Demerara Bauxite Company. Training at the institute commenced in 1958 and since then the institute has gone through a number of managerial and operational changes. Some of these changes have been responses to the changing fortunes of the bauxite company, and have seen the institution undergo a number of name changes. In the 1960’s and 1970’s its name was Demba Trade School (D. T. C). In the late 1970’s its name changed to Guymine Technical Training Complex (GTTC) and this name was carried until 1990. From Guymine Technical Training Complex its name changed to LINMINE Technical Training Complex (LTTC) 1990-1993. When it came under the umbrella of the Bauxite Industry Development Company (BIDCO) it was then called the BIDCO Technical Training Complex (BTTC). In 1996 the institution was transferred to the Ministry of Education and became known as the Linden Technical Institute (L. T. I).
