ul. "Suhodolska" 175, 1373 Sofia, Bulgaria
The "Lyuben Karavelov" Higher School of Construction - Sofia is the successor of the specialized military engineering construction school, created for the needs of the Construction Troops (Conscript, Labor Troops). It has gone through different periods and forms of existence – school, secondary, secondary and higher education institution. It was created by Supreme Decree No. 22 /18.10.1938 of His Majesty King Boris III. In a short period of time, the teaching and material base was built in the Lagera area and the command and teaching staff was selected. In 1942, the school was moved to its own building in Gorna Banya quarter. In September 1951, the School was reorganized into the National School for Labor Officers (NUTO), and since 1952 it has been named after the former Chief Director of the Labor Service - General Blagoi Ivanov. Since 1966, the school has been located in a purpose-built building on Suhodolska Street, where it is currently located. In 1969, the school was transformed into a Semi-Higher People's Military School for Construction Troops Officers (PNVUOSV). Due to the significantly increased volume and complexity of the construction and assembly works performed by the Construction Troops, and the need for highly qualified military personnel with higher education, by Decree of the State Council No. 1815/16.08.1973, the school was transformed into the Higher People's Military Construction School "Gen. Blagoi Ivanov" (VNVSU "Gen. Blagoi Ivanov"). The training took place in the specialty "Industrial and civil construction" with two profiles: building structures and construction technology. The school prepares management staff not only for the Construction Forces and the "Construction" branch, but also for the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Transport and other departments. The school has been an attractive learning center not only for the youth of our country, but also from a number of other countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. In accordance with intergovernmental agreements, cadets and officers from Tanzania, Mozambique, Cuba, Laos, Yemen, Vietnam, Mongolia, Syria and others were trained there. In 1991, by Decree No. 248/15.08.1991 of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, the school was renamed the Lyuben Karavelov Higher Military Engineering and Construction School (Lyuben Karavelov Higher Military Engineering School). As of August 31, 2000, with the Law on the Transformation of Construction Troops, VMT and VKPD into State Enterprises (Government Gazette No. 57/14.07.2000) "L. Karavelov" VVISU was demilitarized and renamed "Luben Karavelov" Higher Construction School " (VSU "L. Karavelov") with the status of a state higher specialized school.
