The Penza Agricultural Institute was organized in 1951 and was transformed into the Penza State Agricultural Academy on November 16, 1995. In December 2016, the Penza State Agricultural Academy was transformed into the Penza State Agrarian University. The university is a major educational and scientific center of agricultural production. At the university, students are trained at five faculties: agronomy, technology, engineering, economics and at the faculty of secondary vocational education in thirteen areas of undergraduate training, eleven areas of master's training, three specialties, in fourteen areas of training scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel in graduate school and twelve specialties of secondary vocational education. More than 30 doctors of sciences, professors and more than 100 candidates of sciences are engaged in professional training of students and scientific research. Many of them have honorary titles: Honored Agronomist of the Russian Federation, engineer, economist, worker in agriculture and higher professional education.
