The issue of higher agricultural education in the Perm province began to be resolved when on 10/01/1916 the Perm branch of Petrograd University was opened in Perm, which became an independent Perm University on 07/01/1917. Agronomists were to be trained by the natural department of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. But this would not solve the problem of agricultural personnel. Therefore, work began on the creation of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, which, by decision of the People's Commissariat of Education dated 17.06.18. No. 572 was opened on July 1, 1918. In 1930, on the basis of the agronomic faculty, the Ural Agricultural Institute was formed with three faculties: agronomic, agrochemical and zootechnical, and in 1933 it was renamed the Perm Agricultural Institute.
