South Russian State Polytechnic University (NPI) named after M.I. Platov was founded on October 18, 1907 with the greatest approval of Nicholas II as the Don Polytechnic Institute. DPI is the first higher educational institution in the South of Russia. The University is the only higher education institution in Russia created on the initiative of the Cossacks and for the education of the Cossacks. Half of all the money spent on the opening of the DPI was collected by the Cossacks of the All-Great Don Army. The first set of DPI consisted of 150 people, of which 80 were Cossacks. During its history, the university has trained more than 150 thousand specialists, highly qualified engineers, scientists, and production workers. Sensitively responding to the demands of the time, SRSPU (NPI) trains highly qualified engineers - young personnel who have the key competencies necessary for a new type of economy, have an understanding of the range of advanced technologies and are able to become real modern "captains of production", successfully solving complex problems.
