The American University was born in the Republic of Costa Rica as an institution willing to assume leadership among higher education institutions. However, this leadership will not be focused on material or technological aspects, although it is true, they are complements in the professional training of students, but they are not the essence of the student. UAM impregnates this essence with the academic training you will receive in our classrooms. The institution began its operation in September 1997, with the aim of starting the project formally by January 1998. This start occurred with the opening of the offices in San José and Cartago simultaneously. The rapid growth that UAM experienced in the first months allowed a third office to be opened in August 1998, this time in Heredia.
