The Berlin Technical Art Academy (BTK, proper spelling BTK - Hochschule für Gestaltung ) was a private, state-recognized university with locations in Berlin , Iserlohn and Hamburg. It was a private university of applied sciences and was founded in spring 2006 from the Hamburg and Berlin technical art schools and private academies for design to train designers at the interface between design, art and new media. The founders were Cyrus Khazaeli (designer and founding rector), Hans-Hendrik Grimmling (painter), Matthias Leupold (photographer and rector from 2007 to 2014) and Claus Bennefeld (businessman).
