The Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences is one of the three universities of applied sciences in state sponsorship and oversight by the Ministry of Science of the State of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania . The academic institution, located in the west of the city of Neubrandenburg in the immediate vicinity of Lake Tollense , was founded in 1991 with two departments and began teaching in the 1991/1992 winter semester with 161 students. It is a campus university with around 2,170 students in 37 courses (winter semester 2021/22). Approximately one-third of students are enrolled in social work . Other major subjects include agricultural economics , food technology , health sciences , nursing sciences , geoinformatics , and nature conservation and land use planning .
