The University of Malaya (Malay: Universiti Malaya; abbreviated as UM or informally the Malayan University) is a public research university located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is the oldest and highest ranking Malaysian institution of higher education according to two international ranking agencies,[5][6] and also the only university in the post-independent Malaya. The university has graduated six prime ministers of Malaysia, and other political, business, and cultural figures of national prominence.
