The University of Passo Fundo (UPF), the university of our community, was founded 54 years ago and it is one of the most important universities in the North of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Its practices are committed to the regional population, promoting a process of education which involves quality, science and ethics of its graduates. Thus, the university focuses on the qualification of its faculty, enabling the generation and spread of knowledge. The presence of UPF in the region has changed destinies and brought social, economic, scientific and cultural development to more than 150 cities in the state. Currently, the university has over 11.000 students, offering 58 undergraduate courses, more than 150 specialization courses, 15 master and 9 doctorate programs, distributed in 12 Academic Units.
