"Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" University is the only state university in Southeast Bulgaria. It was founded on October 6, 1963 by Decree No. 162 of the Ministry of the Interior as a Higher Institute of Chemical Technology. Five years later, the institute was renamed the Higher Chemical and Technological Institute "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov", which forever links him with the name of his patron. In 1995, by a decision of the National Assembly, it was approved as the University "Prof. Dr. Asen. Zlatarov". "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" University is institutionally accredited until 26.07.2023 with a grade of 8.84 (decision of the Accreditation Council at NAOA, protocol No. 14/26.07.2018) Education at the University is carried out in five faculties - Faculty of Technical Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Public Health and Healthcare and Faculty of Medicine. It includes three colleges - Technical College, Medical College and College of Tourism and two departments - Department of Language Training and Department for Qualification and Professional Development of Pedagogical Specialists (DKPRPS). Education at "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" University is carried out in 18 professional fields in 45 accredited bachelor's and over 30 master's programs. The Central Research Laboratory and the Electronic Computing Center occupy a worthy place in the structure of the University . Students studying at the University acquire educational qualification degrees "professional bachelor", "bachelor" and "master" , as well as the scientific and educational degree "doctor" .
