Vom, Plateau.
The idea to establish the proposed Karl Kumm University, Vom was muted as far back as 2003. It was at the 57th General Church Council (GCC) meeting of COCIN held on May 7, 2003. A formal decision to establish a COCIN privately own University was agreed upon by the General Church Council. That decision was taken during the presidency of Rev. Dr. Alexander Lar. The University is named after Dr. Karl Kumm, the founder of COCIN who with his team came under the umbrella of Sudan United Mission (SUM) UK Branch. In the 1970s, SUM was indigenized and the name Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN) was adopted. The name is to commemorate the founder of COCIN. The proposed Karl Kumm University is located at Turu in Vwang district of Jos South. Large extract of land has been donated for the University by the Vwang Community. The land size is 40.8 hectares located at Turu. Another at Chigwi which is about 43.45 hectares. These landed property are situated on the beautiful high lands of Plateau State and is characterised by extra-ordinary and striking scenery.
